Introducing the Nursing Mutual Aid 2020 Twitter Conference, a 12-hour conference harnessing the power of social media to feature knowledge, art, and perspectives relevant to the nursing community and the global public in the context of COVID-19.
Please join us on Twitter on Thursday, April 30 from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. ET for Nursing Mutual Aid 2020. The virtual conference will feature peer-reviewed presentations from 75 nurses and midwives across multiple time zones and several countries.
You can follow the conference on Twitter @NrsgMutualAid and by following the hashtag #NMA2020. The conference is free, and no registration is required.
How it works: In 10-minute segments, each presenter will upload six substantive tweets (text, text with image, video). Those following the conference on Twitter are encouraged to engage with comments and questions, and the presenter will respond past the 10-minute time slot. Use Twitter’s translate function to follow presentations across languages.
Nursing Mutual Aid 2020 has created a space for marginalized voices: Black and Indigenous nurses and midwives, those working in street nursing and harm reduction, migrant health, LGBTQ+ health, hospice and death nursing, reproductive justice, school nursing, climate nursing, graphic medicine, digital (internet) access & health.
Presenters include Theresa Brown, New York Times nurse columnist (“The Reason Hospitals Won’t Let Doctors and Nurses Speak Out”); Julius Johnson, President of the Black Nurses Association of New York City; and Tener Veneema, an internationally recognized expert in disaster response. Nursing Mutual Aid 2020 is a web platform for sharing mutual aid resources, a digitally-connected community of nurses and midwives around the world.
